The EDF Energy approach to education and skills programmes is founded on the theme of ‘Inspiring the next generation and building a stronger future’ and has two key strategic strands: building our future workforce and building stronger communities. We have a strong focus on working collaboratively across sectors, skills bodies and supply chain partners to promote science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
This approach sets the foundation of our aspirations for Sizewell C, a proposed new nuclear power station that would be built to the north of Sizewell B on the Suffolk Coast. At peak construction about 5,600 people are likely to be employed on the Sizewell C site, with about 900 staff once its operational.
We will work in partnership with local schools, colleges and training providers to help develop education programmes and skills required to support the development of our project.
